Meet Your AGENTS
Agents work as a team to ensure minority communities are represented and aim to make the College accessible to everyone.
KEYA SHETTY - International Agent
As the International Agent and President of the John Snow International Association, I represent international students within the JCR, ensuring their needs are met and they feel right at home at John Snow. I also organise cultural events from around the world, along with Global Week and International Week, to bring people together to celebrate our different cultures.
CIVAN TERBAS - People of Colour Agent
KERRIE WARNER - Disabilities Agent
SOPHIE SMITH - Social Mobility Agent
ABIGAIL CLAY - LIVERS OUT AGENT
I’m here to help build community whether that’s through cultural celebrations, social events, or just being a friendly face you can come and talk to if you ever need advice, support, or even just a chat.
Ultimately, I want every student of colour to know they truly belong here at John Snow, and that our diversity is recognised and celebrated as one of our greatest strengths
As Disabilities Representative, I support students with disabilities throughout the year. I advocate for their needs in college discussions, promote accessibility, and raise awareness of disability-related issues. My aim is to ensure every Snow student feels valued and able to take part fully in academic, social, and community life.
My role as Social Mobility Agent is to provide support and information for students that are working class, first generation, have recieved contextual offers or went to state school. This is so that we can create a strong community of state school/ working class students within John Snow.
As Livers out agent, I will be supporting all students living outside of college throughout the year advocating for any needs or concerns and helping to maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment in Snow! Anyone who needs any advice please feel free to chat in my office hours
This year we have 3 available agent opportunities for incoming and returning students to Durham.
LGBTQ+ Agent - Create a safe space in college for all students who are part of the LGBTQ+ community by organising events and raising any issues within JCR meetings. Working with other colleges and the DU LBGTQ+ society to ensure Durham is a welcoming and inclusive place for all its students and will be part of the Snow LGBTQ+ society!
Environment Agent - President of Environmental society, and will have weekly office hours. Helps the college to be more sustainable, and organise events/socials for everyone to get involved in.
Placement and Year Abroad Agent - Here to help people with everything year abroad and placement related, whether it’s before during or after.
