NICK EVANS - PRESIDENT

Welcome to John Snow! A huge congratulations on getting a place at Durham, it's no small feat so you should all be so proud of your achievements. John Snow is such an amazing place. It's the best college in Durham in my opinion (I'm very biased) and I hope you will have so much fun during your time here and create so many great memories.

I am the JCR President, a full-time sabbatical role! That means there’s rarely a day I’m not in the office working away to ensure the JCR offers you the best student experience. I help with managing all of my exec and non-exec covering sports, societies, balls and events. Be sure to get involved to have a good time!

CAITLIN SMITH - VICE PRESIDENT

Hey, I'm Caitlin, your Vice President, and 4th year Marketing and Management student.

My role primarily involves assisting the JCR whenever help is needed, covering for people when they are ill/unavailable, organising stash orders, planning all the formals alongside college and attending meetings alongside Nick to keep the ship smooth sailing!

I spend most of my time around college, but will probably be in the new business department or around town! I’m an absolute F1 fanatic, theatre fan and in my spare time love to try as many new things as possible. Having just come back from London on my placement year I’m so excited to see everyone back in Durham and meet all of your new faces! I’m so eager to get to know you guys so if you want to get involved with college life or just have any questions in general, please feel free to come and speak to me, I’m not scary I promise!

ELLA MEDLEY - CHAIR

Hi, I’m Ella! I’m in my fourth year at Durham and have been involved in everything from Phoenix Cheer to BioSoc. And this year, I’m your JCR Chair! I organise JCR meetings and councils, represent the JCR at formals, oversee elections, and keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

MAISIE DONOHUE - SENIOR WELFARE OFFICER

Hello! I am Maisie your Senior Welfare Officer for this upcoming year!

My role is to provide welfare support, communicate with colleges and create campaigns and socials around welfare topics with my Assistant Welfare Officers! You will see me in college far too frequently, whether that be for drop ins, socials or simply because I bleed blue to an embarrassingly high amount…

As SWO, my role is to ensure everyone in college feels heard, safe and supported not only during freshers but throughout the whole year, so please do get in touch for any welfare related need you may have! Enjoy freshers and be safe!

SUBIL PHILIP - TREASURER

Hi there, I'm Subil, your JCR Treasurer for the next year. I am in charge of the JCR finances, and make sure that you and your society are spending your budget responsibly and getting reimbursed for any expenses.

If I’m not sleeping, you'll probably find me in the igloo or playing Ultimate Frisbee and Spikeball. Anywhere but my lectures. Over my last three years I’ve gotten more and more involved in college, making so many new friends and memories. I hope that you all will get involved, and I look forward to meeting you.

WILL LONSDALE - SPORTS OFFICER

Hi, I'm Will and I'm your Sports Officer for this year!

My role is basically being a caretaker for all the sports that we run. I book training slots, help get teams set up and work out all the funding for each sport. I also get the pleasure of hosting a formal with the lovely Societies Officer at the end of the year to celebrate the past year of college participation.

ALEX MCCALMONT - SOCIETIES OFFICER

Hi! I’m Alex, a Law finalist and I’m super excited to be your Societies Officer this year!

I’m here to help with room bookings, hosting events, boosting engagement and celebrating the success of our societies throughout the year! I also organise the Freshers Fair and Sports and Societies Formal at the end of the year with the Sports Officer! Keep your eyes on @snow.societies for updates and events throughout the year - excited to see what you all get involved in!

BETH HAYES - ENTERTAINMENTS OFFICER

Hi! I’m Beth and I’m your entertainments officer for the year! My role includes organising and running some of the college's main events.

This includes all the events you’ve experienced during freshers week. Along with the Spring Soirée which is held in college during term 2. And Snow Day, one of our big celebrations at the end of the year - and it’s Snow’s 25th anniversary next year so be prepared for the biggest snow day yet! We also want to bring back snowcials - some smaller fun events throughout the year! I hope you all get involved in everything snow has to offer and make so many memories, feel free to come and chat to me if you have any questions!

KIRA RAMNARAIN - PROMOTIONS OFFICER

Heyy I'm Kira your Promotions and Communications Officer for the year!

My role includes creating all the content you see across John Snow social media and creating all the designs for Snow wristbands and t-shirts! I'm really excited to show everyone how fun it is to bleed blue and why Snow really is the best college!!

I'm the person behind the John Snow Instagram (johnsnowjcr) so make sure to drop a follow to keep updated and always feel free to send a message if you have any questions I'm more than happy to help :)

PHOEBE GOODRICH - OUTREACH OFFICER

Hi everyone, I’m Phoebe, and I’m your Outreach Officer this year! I’m responsible for organising all our outreach and volunteering projects and events, ensuring there are plenty of ways for you to get involved throughout the year.

Whether it’s visiting Sherburn House care home or joining college litter picks, there’s something for everyone! Make sure to follow our Instagram @johnsnowoutreach to stay updated and find out how to take part. I’m really excited to meet you all and hope you’ll join in some of our outreach activities! Outside of college life, I’m a big fan of musicals- chances are you’ll catch me at the Assembly Rooms Theatre whenever there’s a show on! I enjoy going for runs when I can, and I’m always up for a good meal out (Spags is a must-visit!).

LIV HANNAH - DEVELOPMENTS OFFICER

Hi, I’m Olivia and as this year’s Developments Officer my responsibilities include all things careers and connections!

Throughout the year I will be running social media campaigns over at @snow.devs on Instagram, as well as running in-person career events and drop-ins. I will also be working hard to increase our alumni network, and will be working alongside other officers to provide you with the best resources possible! I’m always around to answer any queries you may have.

CHLOE CATER - BALL CHAIR

Hi! I’m Chloe, a third-year Engineering student and this year’s JCR Ball Chair for John Snow College.

Outside of my degree, I love playing netball and proudly represent the university on the court. I also play the trumpet and saxophone, and I’m currently the Secretary of the John Snow Music Society. As Ball Chair, I lead the committee that plans and delivers John Snow’s College Balls - two of the biggest events in our calendar! We host one at Christmas and another at the end of the academic year to celebrate together in style. Think: a three-course meal, live music, indoor games, food stalls, and even fairground rides in the summer. They're a real highlight of Snow life, and I can’t wait to make them unforgettable this year!
